This latest CD from Lera Lynn is really really good. It is a bit of a departure from the songs she contributed to the True Detective soundtrack, but this is a good thing. On "Resistor" she branches out on her songwriting into new territory, with a sound that is reminiscent to a David Lynch movie soundtrack, with a bit of X (the 80's punk band) guitar sound. Her vocals on this album are amazing, layered and emotive, and totally smooth. The first 5-6 songs on Resistor are the best with Shape Shifter and Drive being upbeat in tempo. This whole CD is one that would be great to listen to on a night drive on the freeway, windows down and on the run! Only near the end of the CD do things get a little un-interesting, but the last song "Ruby" picks it up. I highly recommend this CD. Lera Lynn is cool! She is an amazing songwriter and talent. She has become one of my top 5 favorite artists right now.
