Now, three years after the last album, BLACK HEAVEN returns – with the equally long-awaited and essential "Dystopia".
After the aptly titled retrospective "History" (2009), BLACK HEAVEN cast their eyes to the future horizon and deliver a record that is the projects' most versatile journey through the electronic cosmos while retaining a thoughtful, melancholic element already known from MANTUS. "Dystopia" is gothic electro in perfection, a unique blend of the two scenes into an emotional and surprising walk on the borderline.
Aside from archetypical BLACK HEAVEN tracks like the haunting "Die Zeit die Bleibt", "Lächelnd Geht die Welt Zugrunde" with its apocalyptic melody and the melancholic, dreamlike "Himmel ohne Sterne", it is songs like the aggressive club hit "Licht Bricht Dunkelheit", the Electroclash trip "Schwarze Asche" and the surreal fairy tale "Ich Spielte Dort am Grossen Teich" that add to the lost, urgent and fascinating atmosphere of this extraordinary album. Dark electro never sounded more dystopian, more unworldly.
An unmistakably example of Martin Schindler's prowess, "Dystopia" is by far the most versatile, the most exciting BLACK HEAVEN album ever. It delivers an hour-long journey into another world – a journey dominated by bitter reflections and critical questions, but also by the warmth of human emotions.
