Новый альбом.
The immensely talented Anoushka Shankar continues to grow and impress. This her latest album might very well be considered her best yet. A very varied album with various guests like M.I.A., Alev Lenz who sings the haunting title track and the grande Vanessa Redgrave reciting on the track "Remain The Sea".
The album has overall an acoustic feel unlike albums like "The Rise" or her collaboration with Karsh Kale with the magic and spiritual sound of her sitarplaying in the foreground. And with an overall sombre feeling. Not surprising since the album's concept is a reflection on the refugee crises. Just like her famous father Anoushka is a deeply humnitarian and conscious artist.
Like all great art this album deserves repeated listenings to unearth all it's secrets. But I think it will be a deeply rewarding musical experience for anyone with love for Indian music and everyone who likes to see it take new shapes and forms without loosing the spiritual roots.
