Original release date: 30.11.2014
New release ‘Tolerance & Dependency’ is the logical continuation of 2013’s ‘Subtract Nerve’ EP, it preoccupies itself with a crawl through similarly bleak headspace, though this time the band pushed themselves further into the hart of darkness than ever before. A career defining roar of pain and self-loathing, and focussed on a greater degree of introspection than ever before, Concrete Lung have finally accepted the stain within their souls, and use it to fuel the anger and chaos they unleash.
Eschewing the primarily lo-fi nature of earlier recordings, ‘Tolerance & Dependency’ sees Riever tasked with taking main control in the studio for the first time, providing fresh perspective on the Concrete Lung sound. Another first sees a live drums taking the place of Lung’s ever present drum machine, but if you think this will result in a less uncompromising, unrelenting sound then you would be sorely mistaken. Layers of samples add atmosphere to the dense cataclysm of uncompromising bass and guitar layers, Oxime’s vocals, as always, providing the furious scream into the abyss that surrounds.
