From beyond the fl ash-fl icker, white noise static of reality comes a radio transmission from Hell. Continuing their journey towards oblivion, Concrete Lung remain dedicated to pursuing the heavier tone of last year’s relentlessly bleak, vinyl-only ‘Die Dreaming’ single. With their new EP, ‘Subtract Nerve’ exploring the futility of existence and its toll on the soul, the sense of trepidation and foreboding that permeates throughout is all encompassing.
Emerging from behind a wall of feedback into a grinding paean to the lost, ‘Subtract Nerve’ is a dirty, bruised powerhouse of relentless grime. Four brand new tracks plus a brutal re-recording of the epic ‘Flux’, a track originally found in demo form from their acclaimed ‘Versions Of Hell’ album, combine to tumultuous effect, expanding on Concrete Lung’s corrosive legacy, slaying the vision and corrupting the fl esh.
As before, ‘Subtract Nerve’ will be available as a limited edition gatefold CD, with exclusive artwork developed in collaboration with Leech Woman’s Alex B. In keeping with Concrete Lung’s mantra of ‘No downloads’, ‘Subtract Nerve’ celebrates the resolutely old school notion that the quality of the artwork and packaging is integral to the overall experience of the music, a vital piece of the artistic puzzle that is sorely lacking in this digital age.
