Heliophile is synther-songwriter Gijs van Ouwerkerk from Enschede, The Netherlands.
After a long period of playing guitar, bass and drums, singing and being the principal songwriter in several extreme heavy metal bands, the synthesizer sounds he heard at a gothic/industrial party reminded him of “Radio Ga Ga” again.
Unable to find the right synth player to produce his songs, he decided to play the long game and took the time to learn how to produce, arrange and mix electronic music himself, while also practising his vocal skills. Three years of development gave birth to the "Nebula" EP in July 2013. The four songs received a warm welcome in the international synthpop community, resulting in lots of airplay all over the world. American blog Eminent Domain called it "some of the best German-influenced synthpop heard in years". The positive response encouraged Gijs to record (anti-)Christmas single 'The Silence' in December 2013 and accompany it with an official video.
A luxury digipack CD edition of the "Nebula" EP, featuring bonus track 'The Silence' and lyrics to all 5 songs inside a 4 page booklet. The disc is a professionally duplicated CD-R.
