Steve Morse first rose to fame in the late 1970‘s as bandleader, songwriter and guitarist for the groundbreaking instrumental band Dixie Dregs. In 1983 Steve formed the trio, The Steve Morse Band. Part of the trio were Steve Morse (guitar), Dave LaRue (bass) and Van Romaine (drums), who together created a fusion of intoxicating rock and experimental, purely instrumental music. In late 1994, Steve Morse joined Deep Purple on guitar. Steve Morse is considered as one of the most accomplished musicians, playing a wide variety of genres. He is known for his stylistically diverse compositional skills and virtuosic abilities and was voted the Best Overall Guitarist by Guitar Player magazine for 5 years in a row, qualifying him for their Guitar Player Hall of Fame, the only other member being YES guitarist Steve Howe.
