The first solo-album by the legend of the German New Wave, Gabi Delgado, will be released at GoldenCore / ZYX Music, on February 28, 2014.
The album includes 18 songs that will excite fans of D.A.F. (Deutsch-Amerikanische-Freundschaft), but also those who go for electronic music and clubbers. Sequences in the typical "D.A.F.-style", modern house- and electro- beats are accompanied by German lyrics that characterize the style of Gabi Delgado. All these elements are making "1" become a mélange, which will certainly create a furor.
Already on January 31, the first single called "Nebelmaschine / Lippenstift" and including also remixes from IN STRICT CONFIDENCE and EISBRECHER, will be released digitally. On the occasion of the release, Gabi will start his solo tour. He will present the full album as well as some hity by DAF/dos in the framework of his tour. The tour will be presented by INTRO and SONIC SEDUCER. Gabi Delgado-Lopez is a pioneer of the German Electro and Techno music. In 1978, he and Robert Görl founded the band D.A.F. (Deutsch-Amerikanische-Freundschaft).
D.A.F. is considered to be one of the most innovative and influential bands of the 80s. Their avant-garde sound is a minimal and powerful mix of industrial, punk and synth-pop. It inspired many electro-pop artists of today.
In 1995, Gabi founded the musical project DAF / DOS together with the actor and musician Wotan Wilke Möhring.

I had the opportunity to meet Gabi Delgado in the Spanish capital, Madrid and talk with him about his new solo project named "1", DAF and his many projects.
M: Gabi, in your opinion, what are the differences but also the most remarkable convergences between DAF and your solo album?
G: Well, I think the biggest differences are the sound and the way of production of the album "1". Unlike D.A.F., I did not use old synthesizer like Korg, Arp, etc.., but entirely modular and modern synths combined with electro-beat-oriented house, glitch-vocals and club effects of the "next -generation." The most notable similarities are certainly the reduced and typical German lyrics as well as my voice.
M: Including 18 tracks and having a running time of 67 minutes, "1" is quite a long duration album ...?
G: I have the intention to create an album at the best value in order to offer as much as possible to the fans. I have had many titles, so that it was even kind of a hard choice to pick those 18 tracks. That's why I'm going to offer some tracks for downloading and for free, that did not make it to my album.
M: I saw previews of your show on youtube and I am fascinated and excited! When will you put it online?
G: Ça va commencer avec un «Spécial de Sylvestre » et une nouvel épisode sera mise en ligne tout les premiers lundi d’un mois. En addition je vais mettre en ligne des Mixes-DJ chez youtube chaque vendredi. It will start with a "Special Sylvester" and new episodes will be posted on the first Monday of a month. In addition I will present some DJ-mixes each Friday on youtube.
M: How would you describe your show on youtube?
G: My show on youtube is actually a mix between a culture magazine and a series-suspense. It might seem extraordinary, but on the one hand we talk about music, arts, games, movies, etc.. and on the other hand a real captivating mystery-plot quite captivating has developed.
M: In addition to the release of your solo project "1", your concerts with D.A.F. and your performances as DJ, to what can we be looking forward to?
G: In general, these are my favorite projects. Furthermore, there are the productions of "4 Gatos". They include e.g. "HAUS ROKA BERLIN" starting with own products in spring 2014 and "HARD STEPAZ", a radical Dubstep / Hardstep project. Moreover, remixes, mountain-biking, go dancing, eat well, cook well and savoir-vivre in general.
