Supercraft consist of 2 members. They are Geir Johansen and Thomas Hansen. Both hail from Halden, a small town in Norway, and they are both in their early prime age. They share the same big interest in music, and have done so since childhood. From 1990 until 1995 Geir and Thomas played together in a Norwegian prog-rock band called Texaco Stovner. In 1994 they entered the Norwegian Rock Championship, and ended in 5th place. So there is no doubt they are talented.
After a short break from music and each-other they came together again in 2001, and it didn't take too long before they also produced music again. And this time it was all about elektronica. In 2006 they started the band Supercraft. Now they had lots of new ideas, and most of all lots of experience. Thomas have invested a lot in music equipment, and ended up building a studio in his own cellar. Now they were no longer depending on renting equipment or places for rehearsals. This meant that they had more time and money to put into their music, and it really shows. Today Geir too got a small studio in his own cellar, and this is where most of the music is produced, while the studio at Thomas' is mainly used to recording and mixing.
In January 2009, Supercraft played a concert at the club K17 in Berlin, Germany. They shared the stage with 2 bands from the German record label Codeline Records. The manager of that record label approached Geir and Thomas after their concert with a deal at the company Codeline Reords. Since their successful trip to Germany, they have been busy recording the songs for coming album when they don’t play concerts in Norway. Supercraft have also caught the attention of bands in almost all of Europe, and have started cooperation with a few bands for mixing and remixing songs.
It is obvious that Supercraft are following in the tracks of other Norwegian bands like Apoptygma Berzerk, Spektralized, Echo Image and Icon of Coil. Both the music and the lyrics are good, and together with the chorus you often end up whistling their song or singing along after listening to them. Supercraft are also strongly influenced by international bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, VNV Nation, AND ONE and Covenant. It is often said they got a slightly retro sound, a sound that often takes you back to the prime days of synthpop at the 80's. Mixing in guitars riffs and rhythmic bass lines, they will always keep evolving.
