Having achieved immediate success with Bronski Beat and “Smalltown Boy”, Jimmy Somerville left after their first album and formed Communards in 1985 with multi-instrumentalist Richard Coles. First two singles “You Are My World” and “Disenchanted” charted, but were topped by the Europe-wide # 1 hit version of Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes’ classic “Don’t Leave Me This Way”. Featuring Sarah-Jane Morris as co-vocalist, it became the biggest-selling UK single of 1986.
This slip-cased 2 CD edition features as many of the non-album single sides and remixes as can be fitted be on, selected by Jimmy Somerville expert Heiko Bollman. Many tracks appear on CD for the first time.
The booklet contains the lyrics, photos, singles sleeves, and notes from Jimmy and Richard.
