FLIEHENDE STÜRME are THE German wave-punk band! Arisen from the just as legendary hardcore punk band CHAOS Z in the mid-80s, FLIEHENDE STÜRME continue on the one hand with the tradition of their hard, uncompromising punk style from the earlier days, but on the other hand also use electronic elements like drum machines and synthesizers. In this way they create a composition of German punk and wave, developing their own incomparable style and earning with their uncompromising sound an exceptional position in the entire independent and underground Scene, from punk, alternative and wave to gothic.
Until 1995 the band consisted of the brothers Andreas and Thomas Löhr, both still from the CHAOS Z times. After the death of Thomas Löhr (shortly after the recording of the album "Fallen" in 1995) Andreas Löhr continued in the studio as a solo project and on stage with live musicians. After the release of the album "Himmel Steht Still" in 2001, he left Germany and withdrew to Portugal, but not to finish his musical career. As a result, terrific new albums emerged at regular intervals and he also returned to Germany for numerous concerts over and over again.
In 2011 FLIEHENDE STÜRME present their new album "Warten auf Raketen". in contrast to the previous albums this one was mostly recorded by the complete band, now again grown to a trio with Jens Halbauer on drums and Uwe Hubatschek on bass. Once again the band has "re-invented" itself, but don't worry, the tracks (all written by Andreas Löhr) are still instantly recognisable, right from the first song "Sterne". Manic guitar riffs and the distinctive voice of Andreas as well as the hammering bass lines from Uwe Hubatschek and the driving and elaborated drum beats from Jens Halbauer impart a special sound to the tracks. Brutal and angry, but also floating and melodious.
