Another chilling slice of apocalyptic dark electro from the hard-wired brain of the ever-inventive DISHARMONY. Neither tired nor too introspective, this latest opus (their fifth album) opens with the magnificent "Drops of Dust", an atmospherically charged and complex piece where gloomy sequencer battles it out with shredded rhythms and melodic piano while hushed, urgent vocals add an extra layer of pitch-perfect menace. A great way to start an album - reminiscent of HAUJOBB in his prime or early, early FLA.
"Malignant Shields" delivers 13 tracks of full-sounding, involving and expertly executed dark electronics - IDM-esque loop rhythms, vocal samples, cinematic melodies and buried-synth counterpoints weave a varied tapestry of dynamic, intelligent electronic music that comes highly recommended.
