The Brand New album of layered, textured and complex electronix from US Electro / Industrialist Gary Zon's Dismantled project : "Standard Issue" ushers in an era of dense, dark electro heralded by stormy single cut "Breed To Death" joined here by another nine tracks of fractured paranoia and infectious dancefloor assaults. A concept album from beginning to end "Standard Issue" has received acolades from Orkus ( Album of the moth ) and Zillo ( 8 in the Zillo soundcheck ) and for good reason - these new recordings are more densely constructed, more insistent and leaner than most material for which Dismantled is known - adding layers of bleeping melody and almost future-pop synth-washes to the classic Dismantled sound. As anyone who heard the "Breed To Death" EP already knows, "Standard Issue" brings the songs themselves into sharper focus than before, but the complexity and artistic sound collages are still present - they've just been focused and retrofitted. Every track is a work unto itself and the album in context forms a great whole, a grandiose motif constructed out of ten mosaic-like pieces. The common thread running through the album is the lyrics : observations, perspectives and interpretations offered in an often sarcastic / ironic tone. Set to shake up the scene by mirroring often unaswered questions "Standard Issue" looks to innovative and push the boundeies of the Electro genre with provocative sounds and scathing retoric.
