When BEYOND OBSESSION released their debut album "Listen Learn and Speak” 18 months ago, the critics weren’t the only ones being enthusiastic and full of praise for this rising star in the pop universe. With hits like "On my Way", "Nothing like that" or "Tokyo Underground” these newcomers also caused plenty of excitement in the clubs.
Finally, the wait is over and more importantly, it is more than worth it. The new album "PIECES OF MACHINERY" will be released on April 3rd, 2015 on Berlin based label "POPGEFAHR RECORDS" (DE/VISION, GARRETT MILES). The new album builds on the strengths and qualities of the band's first release. From the first note to last, the listener will hear how much the band has matured over the last year and a half.
BEYOND OBSESSION sound more mature, but yet never miss an opportunity for joyful playing, which already characterized their debut release. Each of the 10 new songs reflect the emotions that were present during its creation. Punchy, pumping beats, sophisticated harmonies and complex synthesizer sounds that construct a distinct retro charm, creating their own world of sounds, in which one will discover new things even after repeated listening. Sounds that amaze, but most of all sounds and songs that one wants to simply lose himself/herself in.
The brilliant vocals of Nils Upahl, who in many songs enters completely uncharted territory vocally, truly completes the album. With “PIECES OF MACHINERY”, BEYOND OBSESSION have delivered an album that grabs the attention of anyone who is even vaguely interested in synth pop.
