It starts off with Simon Berry's latest gem, Swarm, a nice little melodic trance track with a good bassline and a beautiful melody on top. Berry aptly mixes this into the Clanger remix of Colours which is followed by the Clanger remix of Cambodia. Both tracks have great 303 lines and Colours has a beautiful vocal sample, while Cambodia has more gorgeous melodies on top. From there we go into the amazing and epic Sunday Club remix of Kaleidoscope.
Then we get into a puzzler. Love Washes Over isn't necessarily a horrible song, as vocal anthems go it's okay, but compared to the earlier four tracks it is rather a let down. Then we get the Richard Durand remix of Madagascar as opposed to ANY of the other versions. Matt Darey's Wanna Be An Angel is again a somewhat decent song, but it's quite confusing as to why it's actually included here as in comparison to the earlier discs and the earlier songs it's complete out of place.
Following this we get three more beautiful tracks. Persia, Mongoose, and Turkish Bizarre are all absolutely superb songs which fit right into place with the earlier standard of quality that Love Washes Over and Richard Durand helped destroy.
And after we get our hopes up with them Art of Trance gives us his remix of Calling Your Name. Now, I'm rather a die-hard Platipus fan - I love them and I love Art of Trance. The earlier two discs are some of my favourite albums of all time. My top25 on iTunes has 8 Art of Trance songs and I have Madagasca framed on my wall. But I don't know what the hell he was thinking with this.
I'd still give the third disc 4/5 because of how great the first third and the last third are, as well as the fact that Berry is a good mixer, but it's rather a confusing thing to listen to. That said, it's definitely 5/5 when you take into account the fact that you're getting remastered versions of Wildlife On One and Voice of earth.
Definitely hoping that Platipus will comeback in full stride with the release of this and Union Jack's Pylon Pigs. It's going to be a new decade soon, here's hoping they come back in full force.
