Best electropop from Sweden.
A few years ago, the Swedish singer Sally Shapiro perfected a particularly twee and wispy form of gleaming synthetic Italo-disco, one that offered a pretty perfect contrast between icy and warm. She hasn’t released an album since her 2009 sophomore joint My Guilty Pleasure, but she’ll return early next year with the new LP Somewhere Else. Its first single, the tender and flute-laced “What Can I Do” tips the balance of her sound more heavily toward twee than it’s ever been before. Listen to it and check out the album’s tracklist below. The title of the song “This City’s Local Italo Disco DJ Has A Crush On Me” might be the realest shit she ever wrote.
