Lera Lynn gives proof that her "golden pipes [are] versatile enough to handle ballads and blasters" (The Hufngton Post) on 'The Avenues,' her self-penned new album out September 9. Lynn, who has performed everywhere from A Prairie Home Companion (multiple times) to the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim (recording the Squidbillies theme song), delivers a fearlessly personal album that swells with sultry, brooding songs from the heart. The album opens with the atmospheric track "Out To Sea," which sets the stage for an unforgettable musical journey. The track will be the first single for triple-A radio. Joshua Grange (k.d. Lang, Sheryl Crow, Beck, Dwight Yoakam) produced and recorded 'The Avenues' at his Los Angeles studio. The 11 original songs feature Lynn's longtime guitarist Ben Lewis, keyboardist Jebin Bruni (Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann), bassist Sebastian Steinberg (Fiona Apple, Jon Brion), and drummer Quinn (Tracy Chapman, eastmountainsouth). Grange also provides his distinctive touch on guitar, pedal steel and Wurlitzer, among other instrumets and mixed the album at Sheryl Crow's private studio in Nashville. Refinery29 compared Lynn's sound to the sparse style of Gillian Welch on her 2011 debut, 'Have You Met Lera Lynn?,' but said she "rocks a little harder." This March, Lynn released a self-produced EP 'Lying In The Sun,' called "soulful and sultry" by Direct Current. Lynn has been invited to share the stage with artists including Leon Russell, Jason Isbell and the Punch Brothers. AXS TV says "you cannot say you have truly understood the power of music until you have seen Lera Lynn live."
