Thinking about Eastern Europe and EBM, it is probably the great international success of BORGHESIA and LAIBACH that springs to mind. However, despite several performances on national television and a contract with the Hungarian subsidiary of the major label EMI, ESCALATOR never managed to become popular beyond national borders. It was not until their two brilliant gigs in the BeatClub Dessau and at the Elektrisch Festival that they finally proved they had enough potential to get EBM heads outside of Hungary excited, too.
